Abstract

The maritime industry is undergoing a transformation involving digitalization, sustainability, decarbonization, and workforce skill transition. This leads to significant changes affecting operational and organizational domains. Failure to manage these changes can lead to falling behind the market, economic losses, or regulatory non-compliance. Therefore, change management has gained paramount importance. With this motivation, this chapter aims to develop a novel methodology, namely enhanced Management of Change (e-MoC), for shipping companies by integrating technical, organizational, financial, and performance management. The e-MoC methodology utilizes industrial standards (TMSA Element 7, ABS MoC Guideline), change management models (Lewin, McKinsey, Kotter, ADKAR), microlearning, Earned Value Analysis, and Key Performance Indicators. Contributions include enhancing MoC standards, providing an end-to-end roadmap, and improving safety and environmental protection. Further studies may test e-MoC in real-world environments or develop AI-integrated software for e-MoC implementation.
