Abstract
<jats:p>This research provides theoretical perspectives on climate budgeting and green governance towards mitigation and adaptation practices in South Asian countries (SACs). A literature survey is undertaken to evaluate the contribution of climate budgeting and green governance in climate adaptation and mitigation, and climate action policies. Most studies could look at the origins of climate budgeting, country-level policies, potentials, and problems in allocation of climate funds. While limited studies could observe the contribution of green governance in climate action policies. It recognized the potential of climate budgeting to allocate financial resources for climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. It recognizes the challenges that accompany climate budgeting and green governance in SACs. It explores the complexity, anomalies and lack of funding in climate budgeting, and political barriers in green governance. Green finance and green governance would help to achieve sustainable development, and abate GHGs emissions in SACs.</jats:p>
