Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the significance of individual exhibits of the museum collection on the history of geodesy and cartography and include them in historical circulation. The basis for the study is the archival materials of the museum of the history of geodesy and cartography, created at the Institute of Land Management, Cadastre and Nature Management of the Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University. The study used a set of general historical methods. Historical-systemic, comparative chronological and other general historical research methods allowed us to identify the role of the museum collection in helping to restore the biography of a land surveyor from the Krasnoyarsk Region. Museums are centers for the preservation and study of cultural and historical heritage. University museums are a special type of museum, since they provide information for student youth, are an educational guide for the preservation of cultural and professional heritage and are recognized to be of interest primarily in the professional field. This paper briefly examines the history of the creation of the Museum of the History of Geodesy and Cartography of the Institute of Land Management, Cadastre and Nature Management for the purpose of using it in the educational, project, research activities of students and educational work. The non-core use of the collection is analyzed to assist in compiling the history of an ordinary family, one of whose members worked as a land surveyor in the Krasnoyarsk Region in the first half of the twentieth century. During the study, it was possible to establish that Ivan Pavlovich Belov was one of the students at the last pre-war advanced training courses for land surveyors on crop rotation at the Krasnoyarsk KRAIZO (regional land department), held in 1940-1941. As of 1947, Ivan Pavlovich continued to work as a land surveyor in Krasnoyarsk.
