Abstract
This book brings together the lectures delivered between June 2023 and June 2024 during the Advanced Cultural Studies Courses held at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, in which six authoritative scholars, David Bidussa, Gian Piero Brunetta, Filippo Focardi, Carlo Olmo, Simonetta Soldani e Mauro Volpi, explored the theme “Reinventing Italy. Italian culture between the Resistance and Reconstruction (1943–1948)”. At a time when neo-nationalism is making a strong comeback, and national history risks being reinterpreted through its prism of values, the contributions of these authors analyse, from different disciplinary perspectives and in an original manner, aspects of Italian culture from that era that have hitherto been little explored. They also address the link between the Resistance and the Constitution, to which the introduction to the volume assigns an inescapable centrality.
