Abstract
The chapter draws on statistical data from bilingual primary schools in Slovenia, interviews with school principals and parents, as well as insights from newspapers and other media sources, to explore the key reasons and motivations driving the enrolment of children from Hungary in bilingual schools in the Slovenian region of Prekmurje. Two factors emerge as particularly significant: the child-centred approach of the Slovenian school system and the schools’ focus on teaching multiple languages, including major global languages.
