Abstract

This chapter presents the results of a study measuring the level of adoption of information technologies and computer systems in the operations and resource management of 25 micro and small enterprises (MSEs) located in the municipalities of Atlautla, Ozumba, and Tepetlixpa in eastern Mexico State. The study employed a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive-comparative design, using mean differences. Data collection utilized items from the sixth dimension of the instrument developed by the Latin American Network of Administration and Business [RELAyN], [Aguilar, et al., 2018] which included dichotomous and Likert-scale questions. The results support proposals aimed at strengthening the digital capacity of MSEs in rural and semi-urban areas, emphasizing public policies that improve digital infrastructure and facilitate access to technological training, as well as fostering partnerships between higher education institutions in the region and the productive units.
