Abstract
This paper presents documents kept in the Intermunicipal Historical Archives of Šabac, the fonds of the Šabac District Court (685/1837), concerning the investigation of officials from the area of the Podrinje-Sava Command, i.e. the Šabac district. A special commission of the Council was established to investigate the officials’ abuses and present its findings at the conclusion of the investigation. Those accused of abusing their positions (Đuka Marković, Marko Lazarević, Živan Geratović, Neško Adamović and Lazar Teodorović) were compelled, following the Commission’s inquiry, to return the embezzled and misused funds. There were also corporal punishments, which Prince Miloš most often increased by adding prison sentences. Moreover, the majority of the offenders were dismissed from service and paid the costs of the Commission from their own funds. All the Commission’s verdicts were confirmed by Prince Miloš.
