Abstract

The paper contains twelve critically edited arzuhals sent to Constantinople by representatives of twelve nahiyas of the Belgrade Pashalik in 1814. These are the arzuhals of the Ćuprija, Užice, Rudnik, Valjevo, Jagodina, Kragujevac, Belgrade, Šabac, Sokol, Požarevac, Požega/Čačak and Smederevo nahiyas, written in the Serbian language, Cyrillic alphabet and pre-Vukovian orthography. The originals of the edited documents are kept in the Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey in Istanbul, in the Hatt-ı Hümayun fonds. They are important as they allow for a partial reconstruction of the list of Serbian knezes of the Belgrade Pashalik after the restoration of Ottoman rule following the First Serbian Uprising.
