Abstract
<jats:p>The article is devoted to visual propaganda on the pages of the British satirical magazine “Judy” in connection with the Anglo-Russian “Big Game” on the Afghan issue in the 1870s and 1880s. Based on the analysis of W.G. Boucher’s creative work and his graphic works, the perception by the British public of the foreign policy goals of Russia and Great Britain on the Afghan problem and their rivalry during the “Big Game” is analyzed. The article concludes that the active and expeditious representation of the “Big Game” in caricature, the formation of a negative image of Russia contributed to the strengthening of Russophobia in English society.</jats:p>
