Energy Classification, the Limits of Special Relativity, and Cosmological Implications

<jats:p>This paper examines the comprehensive spectrum of physical energy and investigates the operational limits of Albert Einstein’s total relativistic mass-energy equation. While special relativity successfully unifies rest-mass energy with translational kinetic energy for isolated bound systems, it cannot serve as a universal formulation for all cosmic energetic phenomena. This paper categorizes primary classical and modern energy manifestations, delineates how internal energy states contribute directly to invariant rest mass, and demonstrates why field-based phenomena, specifically gravitational potential wells, mass-less electromagnetic radiation, and dark energy, fall outside the scope of the relativistic mass-energy equation. Finally, it frames these energetic constituents within the cosmological context of the Big Bang, tracing the co-evolution of 3D spacetime, baryonic matter, dark matter, and vacuum energy from the initial cosmic singularity</jats:p>
