Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the “mirror” statistics of the foreign trade of the Kyrgyz Republic with non-EAEU countries that account for the largest volumes of export–import operations (China). The purpose of the study was to identify discrepancies between the national statistical data of Kyrgyzstan and the statistics of its partner countries, as well as to assess their possible causes. The results indicate that differences between Kyrgyzstan’s export figures and the corresponding import data of partner countries generally fall within the acceptable margin of statistical error, although minor deviations are observed in certain periods. At the same time, it has been established that discrepancies between Kyrgyzstan’s import data and the export statistics of partner countries significantly exceed acceptable limits, which may indicate the probable existence of substantial volumes of shadow economic activity. The findings can be used in developing measures aimed at improving the customs administration system and enhancing the transparency of foreign economic activity.
