Abstract
This article explores the key role of multimedia technologies in developing comprehensive digital literacy among students at higher education institutions. The topic is relevant given the rapid digital transformation of society and the economy, which places new demands on the competencies of future specialists. The author analyzes the evolution of the concept of "digital literacy," revealing its components: information, communication, and technological literacy, content creation literacy, media literacy, and security. The primary focus is on the dual function of multimedia: as a tool for enhancing cognitive processes through visualization and interactivity, and as an object of study that allows students to develop practical skills in creating digital content. The paper also examines the challenges of integrating multimedia technologies into the educational process, including the digital divide and insufficient teacher training, and proposes solutions. It is concluded that project-based activities based on the creation of multimedia products are the most effective method for developing students' sustainable digital competencies necessary for successful professional development in the 21st century.
