Abstract

<jats:p>The article examines the main issues related to the formation of the methodology of teaching history, which is one of the core subjects in the system of training history teachers at the E. Zh. Maanaev Institute of History and Social-Legal Education. It is noted that curricula, textbooks, teaching manuals, and educational-methodological complexes (EMCs) have been developed in accordance with the methodology of teaching. The conditions and results of pedagogical practice conducted in general education schools - laboratories for the methodology of teaching history - are analyzed. Opinions concerning the conditions of pedagogical relations between “School - University” are considered. The strategy of the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan program “Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking” is discussed in the context of the transition from traditional to interactive teaching methods. It is described that theatrical performances in teaching the methodology of history were among the first practical experiences of the institute’s students. Methodological considerations related to the naming of modern teaching methods are revealed. The article also discusses the content of the work carried out with graduates of the E. Zh. Maanaev Institute of History and Social-Legal Education. The article is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev.</jats:p>
