Abstract

"Selected Popular Readings on Mount Tai Culture (Volume 3)" focuses on the cultural history and architectural heritage of Mount Tai. This book includes two stories: "The Stories of Ancient Architecture on Mount Tai": Centered on Mount Tai’s ancient structures, this section explores their historical origins, architectural features, and cultural significance. It covers iconic buildings such as the Dai Temple, Bixia Temple, and South Heaven Gate, blending folklore and historical records to showcase the wisdom of ancient craftsmen and the interplay of religion and politics. For example, the Dai Temple, as the starting point of imperial Fengshan ceremonies, embodies the philosophy of "harmony between heaven and humanity" in its layout. "The Stories of Old Streets and Alleys of Mount Tai": This section delves into the local culture and historical evolution of the old streets and alleys at the foot of Mount Tai (e.g., Hongmen Road, Tongtian Street). Through details such as place-name origins, shop anecdotes, and residents' daily lives, it reconstructs the secular landscape of Tai’an city from the Ming and Qing dynasties to modern times. Some streets and alleys emerged as hubs of commerce and faith due to their connection with imperial Fengshan rituals.
