Abstract
<jats:p>The theoretical and methodological article is devoted to a complex problem – an adequate terminological description of the Russian-Ukrainian war in the optics of religious studies. The authors offer their terminological thesaurus, which partially covers Ukrainian reality. Here we are talking about already known terms and concepts developed by academic religious studies in previous years, they are given an updated interpretation, new accents (war, religion, religious war). But those are also highlighted that meaningfully enrich our understanding of the relationship and interaction of religion and war in the modern era. Unlike classical approaches in term creation, when theory influenced the practice of using certain terms, today’s real living reality offers new terms. Responding to verification requests of a specific era and circumstances, academic religious studies is faced with the problem of dynamic development of the terminological sphere.</jats:p>
