Abstract

This article addresses the relevance of restoring postural and coordinative functions in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI), which is one of the leading causes of persistent motor impairments and reduced quality of life. Traumatic brain injury often results in complex disorders of balance, motor coordination, postural control, and functional mobility, significantly limiting patients’ independence in daily activities. The paper highlights the main functional consequences of TBI that negatively affect movement efficiency, safety, and participation in everyday life. Current scientific evidence on the role of physical therapy in the correction of postural and coordination impairments at different stages of rehabilitation is summarized. Physical therapy is presented as a key component of the comprehensive rehabilitation process aimed at restoring postural stability, motor control, and coordinated movement patterns. The article analyzes the mechanisms through which targeted therapeutic interventions promote neuroplastic changes and functional recovery following brain injury. Special attention is given to the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the rehabilitation of patients with TBI, emphasizing collaboration among physical therapists, physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals. The integration of modern, evidence-based physical therapy methods is shown to contribute to improved postural control, enhanced coordination, and the development of stable functional skills. These improvements play a crucial role in increasing functional independence and reducing the risk of secondary complications. The findings indicate that individualized and function-oriented physical therapy interventions are essential for optimizing motor recovery and supporting long-term reintegration of patients with traumatic brain injury into daily and social activities.
