Abstract
<jats:p>The theses consider the role of the traditions of Ukrainian painting and decorative and applied arts in the formation of artistic and aesthetic ideas and professional competencies of higher education students in art specialties. The emphasis is on the use of national artistic samples in the educational process, the combination of academic techniques with folk crafts, the formation of coloristic culture as one of the key aspects of aesthetic education. Pedagogical approaches and practical recommendations for the integration of decorative and applied motifs into fine art classes are presented.</jats:p>
