Abstract

<jats:p>The relevance ofthe problem under study stems fromthe need toeffectively utilize modern approaches andmethodsof career guidance not only with schoolchildren inEnglish lessons but also insupplementary education classes within the“AviationEnglish”course.This article examines theexperience ofparticipating in the“Professionals”professional skills championship as akey methodfor increasing motivationfor foreign language learning andearly career self-determination.The leading research method isan analysis ofreal-world teaching experience inimplementing supplementary education programs, which allows us to determine the quality andlevel ofpedagogical support forstudents ingrades 6–8. Increasing adolescent engagement in career guidance remains a pressing issue.It hasbeen established that the effectiveness ofprofessional development support significantly increases with astronger practical component (trainings, master classes, professional trials) through the use of a competitive component. This article presents the results of the implementation of a new educational program at the “Children’s (Adolescent) Center” municipal budgetary educational institution, designed for 33 academic weeks (66 hours). The practical significance of this article is confirmed by the successful performance of the course team, which placed among the 11 participating teams in the municipal stage of the “Professionals” championship in the 2024–2025 academic year. The article’s materials may be useful for supplementary education teachers and English teachers to improve career guidance and prepare students for participation in the championship movement.</jats:p>
