Abstract
<jats:p>The chapter presents an empirical study of the process of students' self-determination in conditions of social and professional uncertainty. The relevance of the work is due to the increasing instability of the modern world, which poses difficult tasks for young people to build life and professional trajectories. The empirical basis of the study was made up of data from a voluntary anonymous online survey conducted among undergraduate students studying in the humanities. The Yandex Forms platform was used to collect information, which provided: convenience of participation for respondents, wide coverage of the target audience, and speed of data collection. The research toolkit included two components. Validated methods for assessing the components of emotional intelligence: self-awareness; self-regulation; social awareness; relationship management. A developed questionnaire aimed at studying the adaptation features of first-year students at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.</jats:p>
