Abstract
Today, it is impossible to imagine the full development of Russian industry and the defense complex without the ferrous metallurgy industry. Therefore, the ferrous metallurgy directly determines the level of economic security of the state. In the current environment, the industry faces unprecedented challenges that require a revision of its development strategy. This study examines the development of the ferrous metallurgy industry in Russia from 2021 to 2024. The results show a decline over three years in pig iron smelting, ferrosilicon production, steel, steel wire, finished rolled product output, steel exports, and Russia's share of global ferrous metal exports. Stimulating domestic demand, developing and implementing proprietary solutions for high-tech alloys, and implementing AI solutions for production and logistics management could significantly improve the situation.
