<jats:p>The author presents the most important issues regarding the Commission of National Education – its origins, providing the foundations for school organization and legislation, new curricula, textbook development, preparing teachers, the reform of universities, introducing changes towards the dissemination of teaching. She also shows people working for the reform, with particular emphasis on their commitment to the wor ofthe Commission.</jats:p>
