Abstract
<p>China has no anti-cruelty statute, so there is no offense category, court statistic, or government database that records harm to animals. AHID-CN makes this harm countable through two deliberately separate sub-corpora. An incident corpus documents 30 publicly reported animal-harm events through archived sources, extracted claims, and coded institutional responses. A judgment census identifies 490 animal-harm criminal judgments (about 409 unique cases) from CAIL2018, a frozen corpus of 2.68 million Chinese criminal judgments published up to 2018, using a documented search protocol in which every automated exclusion was manually re-examined. The dataset ships as five CSV tables with full field documentation under CC BY-SA 4.0 on Zenodo. It supports research on how existing criminal law stretches to cover harms it was not written for, on the co-occurrence of animal abuse with interpersonal violence, and on what public reporting captures that the judicial record misses.</p>
