Abstract

<jats:p>The article highlights the key stages of the life and work of Sergey Fedorovich Sergeev, a renowned scientist in Russia and beyond, who made a significant personal contribution to establishing and developing such fields of scientific knowledge as occupational psychology, engineering psychology, and cognitive ergonomics. Brief information is provided on the scientist’s main scientific interests in the process of carrying out fundamental and applied research over the years of work on the ergonomic support for developing and operating aviation and space “human-machine-environment” systems. An analysis of the scholar’s scientific legacy is given, and a list of the main bibliographic sources is provided, which allows assessing both the breadth of the researcher’s scientific interests and the depth of the work done on the tasks set and solved by getting acquainted with the scientific works in more detail. Answers to questions in an interview with the editor of the journal “Ergodesign” are presented.</jats:p>
