Abstract
<jats:p>This book provides an overview of the domestic and international activities of the Federal Research Center, the N. I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR), in the collection, study, and conservation of plant genetic resources. This publication is based on numerous historical documents (including archival ones), international and Russian documents, publications by VIR staff, scientific articles by N. I. Vavilov published in the Soviet Union and abroad, numerous letters from his rich epistolary legacy in Russian and foreign languages, the works of historians of science, and bibliographers of N. I. Vavilov, including publications by N. I. Vavilov's son, Yu. N. Vavilov. Dedicated to the 140th anniversary of N. I. Vavilov's birth and the 130th anniversary of VIR. The monograph will be of interest to researchers – biologists and specialists in the field of agricultural science, historians of science, genetics and breeding, as well as to teachers of higher educational institutions with biological and agricultural profiles.</jats:p>
