Abstract
The aim of the study is to establish that analyticity can function as a tool for genre differentiation. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that analyticity is examined for the first time as a textual category that includes evaluation, argumentation, and evidentiality, and that possesses functions of genre differentiation with respect to media texts. Two articles of different genres from English-language media (an analytical article and an opinion piece) were selected as the research material. The results of the study demonstrated differences in the realization of analyticity across media genres and showed that, in analytical articles, this category is characterized by a pronounced stive toward objectivity, emotional neutrality, balance of positions, and well-founded argumentation, whereas opinion articles, on the contrary, exhibit subjectivity, emotional coloring of the text, and author-driven argumentation. These findings make it possible to conclude that analyzing analyticity allows one to determine the genre status of the text under study.
