Abstract

The research aims to determine the psychological type of the linguistic personality within the confessional discourse of F. M. Dostoevsky’s novel “The Raw Youth”, drawing on V. V. Kolesov’s concept of the “psycho-logical circle” through the application of a complex linguo-cognitive methodology. The scientific originality of the research lies in revealing the dominant idealistic conceptual foundations – UNITY, HAPPINESS, LOVE, and TRUTH – as a psychosemantic component of the linguistic material in Dostoevsky’s novel. This is achieved through the comprehensive development of methods for studying the consciousness of a linguistic personality in a literary text, as well as a technological procedure for identifying and describing the “conceptums” of the reflexive-semantic field of the linguistic personality’s consciousness within confessional narrative. The study clarifies the definition of the term “confessional discourse”, analyzes semantic roles in autocommunicative situations, models the cognitive-emotional conceptosphere, identifies substantive forms of conceptual intersections in the literary text, and determines the psychological type of the linguistic personality through comparative analysis. The results demonstrate that the multi-layered psycho-emotional structure of the worldview of the linguistic personality in the confessional narrative of “The Raw Youth” corresponds to the Russian psychological type as defined by V. V. Kolesov.
