Abstract

The research aims to identify the educational opportunities of English-language project-based activities for non-linguistic students, conducted at a university Botanical Garden. The article describes the practical experience of implementing six educational projects, each involving the creation of digital creative project products aimed at developing students’ professional and meta-subject skills. The constituent elements of the project work organization are detailed: problem, planning, field trip, search, product, presentation, portfolio, and support. The study outlines the sequential stages of these projects: the motivational-preparatory stage, the search-and-activity stage, the presentation stage, and the evaluative-reflective stage. The article provides characteristics and examples of the project products developed by students, which include a spider diagram, a thematic mini-collection, an illustrated album, an electronic card, a cultural botanical postcard, and a botanical educational calendar. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that it is the first to provide a didactic characterization of intellectual and creative projects organized at a university Botanical Garden during the teaching of Foreign Language (English) to students of non-linguistic majors. The results demonstrate that the potential of the project method used in a Botanical Garden setting in English lies in the comprehensive and creative development of students’ professional foreign language communicative competence and universal competencies.
