Abstract

The study aims to analyze ideology and its critic from the post-structuralist point of view. The author considers discourse constructing perceived reality an epistemological base of post-structuralism. Post-structuralist analytical strategies, including M. Foucault’s “archeology of knowledge”, J. Derrida’s “deconstruction”, the analysis of “simulacra” undertaken by J. Baudrillard are examined. This study is the first to consider ideology from the post-structuralist point of view as a certain discursive practice and its critic as a discourse analysis. It was found that post-structuralism tended to fully deny the reality hidden behind the text. All perceived processes and phenomena are constructed by discourse, having an ideological element in themselves.
