Abstract
<jats:p>The problem of emotional intelligence is relevant in several aspects: theoretic and social. Human civilization may find itself in a state of self-destruction if emotions continue to be viewed as the opposite of reason, if we consider emotions as those that are inaccessible to conscious control and regulation; if, based on the experimental study of the features of the course of emotional processes and states and stable personality properties, scientifically sound approaches to the purposeful formation of emotional intelligence of subjects of learning in the process of learning and education are not developed. The purpose of the article is a theoretical and methodological analysis of the problem of the formation of emotional intelligence of the individual. The methodology is based on the methods of scientific and theoretical study: analysis, synthesis, abstraction, generalization, which made it possible to establish the specifics of modern research in the field of psychology of emotional intelligence. The results of the study emphasize the importance of emotional intelligence as a key factor in a person's psychological well-being and social adaptation. The established links between the level of emotional intelligence and various aspects of personal functioning, such as interpersonal relationships and success, indicate its importance in various areas of life. By developing it, we become more aware, resilient, and able to better understand both ourselves and others. Practical implications. Analysis of the data obtained confirms that emotional intelligence is not a static characteristic, but can develop and improve throughout life. This opens up wide opportunities for developing effective training programs and courses aimed at increasing emotional competence. Psychodiagnostic methods have been systematized, allowing to identify the features of the manifestation of components in the structure of emotional intelligence, as well as its integral indicator. Value/originality. A review of the scientific and psychological source base on the problems of the psychology of emotional intelligence was carried out. The concept of emotional intelligence in a broad and narrow sense was revealed. It was revealed that the psychological study of the features of the emotional sphere is one of the defining directions of scientific psychological research. The idea of psychodiagnostic methods for determining the level of emotional intelligence, as well as methods for its development and improvement, is systematized.</jats:p>
