Abstract
Since the 1980s, the Plant Anatomy at the State University of Maringá, Paraná, Brazil, has been dedicated to studying the flower structure of eudicot species belonging to different botanical families. The morphoanatomical investigation began with flowers of Fabaceae (Leguminosae) species, and then expanded to other families such as Amaranthaceae, Asteraceae, Bignoniaceae, Cactaceae, Cordiaceae (Borraginaceae), Euphorbiaceae, Lauraceae, Melastomataceae, Meliaceae, Myrtaceae, Nyctaginaceae, Passifloraceae, Piperaceae, Rutaceae, Rubiaceae, Santalaceae, Sapindaceae, Solanaceae, and Verbenaceae. This book contains morphoanatomical analysis of bracts, bracteoles, floral pedicel, floral receptacle, calyx, corolla, perigone, androecium, gynoecium, and nectaries. Aspects of floral biology have also been investigated in some species. Concepts, data, and definitions regarding floral structure belong to different authors specializing in flower biology. Original information contained herein was obtained from dissertations, theses, and research projects carried out in partnership with students and researchers from the State University of Maringá. I therefore express my gratitude to all partners during this long period of dedication to researching the flower structure of eudicot species that occur in the vegetation of Paraná, Brazil.
