Abstract
<jats:p>This textbook is intended for preparing for the candidate minimum exam in Spanish for postgraduate students specializing in 5.9.6 (Languages of Foreign Countries) and 5.9.8 (Theoretical, Applied, and Comparative Linguistics). The textbook consists of seven sections, which include excerpts from the works of both prominent Spanish and domestic linguists, as well as contemporary researchers on topics related to the history and theory of the Spanish language, the history of Spanish linguistics, the history and theory of translation, current issues in the study of the Spanish language, lexicology, lexicography, sociolinguistics of the Spanish language, and Latin American studies. The selected texts, their volume, complexity, and the tasks provided in the textbook correspond to the requirements for the candidate minimum exam in a foreign language at Russian universities. The textbook can be used both for self-study and in classroom settings with an instructor.</jats:p>
