Abstract
<jats:p>Работа рассчитана на широкий круг читателей, интересующихся историей развития изучения уровня Каспийского моря, его эволюцией. В статье выделено, каким образом исторические методы применялись для решения конкретных задач, как изучение истории развития каспийской малакофауны в плейстоцене способствовало появлению новых направлений исследований уровенного режима Каспийского моря. В заключении обоснована важность проводимых исследований для глубокого понимания современных методов исследования уровенного режима Каспийского моря.</jats:p> <jats:p>The work is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the history of the development of the study of the Caspian Sea level and its evolution. The article highlights how historical methods were used to solve specific problems, and how the study of the history of the development of the Caspian malacofauna in the Pleistocene contributed to the emergence of new areas of research on the level regime of the Caspian Sea. In conclusion, the importance of the conducted research for a deep understanding of modern methods of studying the level regime of the Caspian Sea is substantiated.</jats:p>
