Abstract
<jats:p>The Proceedings Book of the 1st National Virtual Congress: Second Chance Schools as an Alternative for Inclusive Education brings together academic contributions and good practices focused on educational responses for young people in situations of social, personal, and academic vulnerability. The volume analyzes the role of Second Chance Schools (E2O) as alternative educational models that seek to combat early school leaving, educational failure, and social exclusion through flexible, personalized, and inclusive pedagogical approaches. Across the different contributions, key issues are addressed, such as bullying, lack of motivation, emotional difficulties, inequality of opportunities, and the disconnect between the traditional education system and the real needs of students. In response to these challenges, E2O schools are presented as learner-centered environments in which educational support, active listening, and the creation of trusting relationships are essential to fostering self-esteem, resilience, and the rebuilding of positive educational pathways. Likewise, the book highlights experiences of educational innovation and the transfer of the E2O model to other contexts, such as higher education, teacher training, and non-traditional educational settings. The importance of pedagogical leadership, professional coordination, and a socio-emotional approach is emphasized as key elements for a more equitable and humanizing education. Overall, the work represents a significant contribution to the educational field, offering evidence and reflections that reinforce the need for educational policies and practices committed to inclusion, social justice, and the creation of genuine second opportunities for students.</jats:p>
