Abstract
This article presents a comparative analysis of the sanctions under Articles 207.1, 207.2, and 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which establish liability for conveying false information. The author highlights key features in formulating penalties for such crimes: disproportionality, a lack of uniformity in determining the limits of punishment, and the formal and limited nature of alternative sentencing options. The combination of these features allows for identifying a range of systemic challenges in imposing sanctions for such crimes. The author substantiates the need to unify approaches to formulating criminal penalties to ensure the principle of justice and to enhance the effectiveness of legal countermeasures against these threats. It is concluded that legislative adjustment of the identified issues is of crucial importance. In particular, the author proposes standardizing the method for determining the amount of fines in the articles under consideration and ensuring a reasonable increase in penalties.
