Abstract
<jats:p>The study aims at identifying factors that influence the adaptation of foreign students from a socio-psychological perspective. Adaptation is considered a process of interaction between an individual and the social environment, which is associated with the need to resolve contradictions and achieve an optimal level of mutual adaptation. The article examines the contradiction that arise during the mutual adaptation of foreign students and the subjects of the educational environment, and identifies the conditions for their resolution. The article includes the results of an empirical study conducted at Volgograd State Technical University. The study reveals the challenges faced by foreign students in the learning process, including those related to the nature of social interaction with representatives of the host university community. Based on the results of the study, the author concludes that it is necessary to develop specific attitudes toward interacting with foreign students, tak-ing into account their capabilities and needs. This approach will contribute to the development of the personal potential of all participants in the educational environment.</jats:p>
