Abstract
<jats:p>The article discusses the difficulties that teachers and students may encounter when preparing for Task 38 of the English Language Unified State Exam (“Written Expression with Elements of Reasoning Based on a Ta-ble/Diagram”), and suggests ways to overcome these challenges. The author emphasizes the multifaceted and complex nature of written communication foreign language teaching process, which includes not only method-ological and pedagogical aspects, but also psychological and motivational aspects. The examples of exercises designed to prepare students for the second task of the “Written Communication” section of the English Lan-guage Unified State Exam are presented. The article highlights the usefulness of reproductive speech exercis-es and their role in fostering students’ confidence and motivation. The importance of a systematic approach to foreign language written communication teaching and the effectiveness of regularly completing tasks that pre-pare students for the final exam are emphasized. The article provides a few examples of exercises that require students to work with non-continuous texts, which are essential for successful exam preparation, and presents the results of these exercises implementing in the English language teachers’ work.</jats:p>
