Abstract

This article analyzes the transformation of US space policy under Donald Trump as part of the restructuring of global security. The key tenet of the new space policy is the implementation of the doctrine of US technological and military superiority in space, which is becoming a new arena of military operations. Authors examine the following institutional and strategic initiatives: the creation of Space Forces as a new branch of the military, the development of combat space systems architecture, and the promotion of the Artemis Accords, which under-mine current legal regimes. The authors note the continuity with R. Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative pro-gram, but also emphasize the key difference that is qualitative rejection of collective security in favor of military dominance. Thus, the main consequence of Donald Trump’s space policy was the transition of space from a sphere of cooperation to a competitive environment, which intensified confrontation with Russia and China, caused irreversible changes in the international security system, and defined the urgent need to review existing arms control regimes in space.
