Abstract

The subject of philosophical analysis in this article is the problem of free will in the context of the modern digital environment. The author examines the evolution of conceptions of subjectivity from classical libertarianism to modern neurobiological concepts, focusing attention on the challenges that algorithmic personalization sys-tems pose to the individual. The work substantiates the thesis that modern information technologies (recom-mendation algorithms, micro-targeting systems, and predictive analytics) act as a practical embodiment of “ap-paratuses” in V. Flusser’s understanding, forming enclosed “spheres” of individual experience as described by P. Sloterdijk. Employing the method of comparative analysis and case studies (the Cambridge Analytica phe-nomenon, practices of using AI in psychological counseling), the author concludes that authentic free will in the information age shifts from the plane of choice among predetermined options to an act of transgressive exit beyond algorithmically prefigured patterns of behavior. The novelty of the research lies in identifying the phe-nomenon of “voluntary expropriation of subjectivity” through practices of using generative neural networks for emotional support.
