Abstract
<jats:p>The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of literary museums as a form of cultural and educational activity, playing an important role in shaping the aesthetic orientation and cultural values of society. Historical analysis of the evolution of key concepts of “museum” and “literary museum” is carried out, allowing to trace the development of ideas about the essence and functions of these cultural institutions in a historical context. Particular attention is given to the examination of existing classification schemes used by museologists to struc-ture the diversity of literary museums. By means of research, criteria for typologies have been established, al-lowing an objective assessment of the diversity of literary museum activities. The findings are of interest to both professional communities of museum experts, educators, and representatives of the humanities, as well as to a wide readership interested in studying the problems of preserving and promoting national literature.</jats:p>
