Abstract
This collective work examines the work of Catherine II and the influence of her cultural policy on her contemporaries — G.R. Derzhavin, D.I. Fonvizin, M.N. Muravyov, N.M. Karamzin, A.N. Radishchev, etc. The participants of the project critically analyzed a number of historical and literary myths and proposed new interpretations of both well-known works and those texts that did not attract the proper attention of researchers. In addition, this collective work presents dozens of unknown documents scattered through the archives of Moscow and St. Petersburg (special attention is paid to the epistolary heritage of the writers). Well-known Russian and foreign scholars contributed to this book.
