Flame Retardancy of Phase Change Materials

<jats:p>Phase change materials (PCMs) are promising for thermal energy storage by utilizing latent heat, offering a green and sustainable solution for thermal management in various systems. Their application as insulation in buildings, in vehicles of different capacities, or in space technologies requires careful attention to safety measures. The volatility and flammability of PCMs must be controlled according to relevant standards. Therefore, additional research is needed to develop safer, more efficient materials. This chapter first provides an overview of PCMs and then discusses in detail the possible solutions to address flammability issues associated with phase change materials.</jats:p>
