Mono- and bimetallic bio-coordination polymers with transition metals (II), L-tryptophan, 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene and their antimicrobial activity

<jats:p>Highlights• A series of 2D mono- and bimetallic bio-CPs with L-tryptophan amino acid as a ligand, 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene as a bridging co-ligand, and various of metal centers (Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ni/Co, Ni/Zn) were synthesized.• The possibility of bio-CPs consolidation on the surface of track-etched membranes was demonstrated.• Differences in the antimicrobial behavior of bulk and consolidated bio-CPs were studied and discussed.</jats:p>
