Abstract
<jats:p>В статье проанализированы искажения одного из важнейших источников по истории Белого движения на Юге России – воспоминаний видного деятеля Белого движения на Юге России генерал-лейтенанта П.С. Махрова (1876-1964) «В белой армии генерала Деникина», допущенные при их публикации в 1994 г. Делаются выводы о характере и о возможных причинах таких искажений. По оценке автора, при подготовке книги были допущены искажения трех видов: ошибки расшифровки, литературное редактирование и цензурные вмешательства. При подготовке академического издания воспоминаний автор провел полное сопоставление рукописи Махрова, хранящейся в Бахметевском архиве Колумбийского университета в Нью-Йорке, с книгой 1994 г., выявив все изменения оригинального текста.</jats:p> <jats:p>The article analyzes the distortions in one of the important sources on the history of the White Movement in Southern Russia – the memories of a prominent figure of the White Movement in Southern Russia, Lieutenant General P.S. Makhrov (1876-1964) "In the White Army of General Denikin", made during their publication in 1994. Conclusions are drawn about the nature and possible causes of such distortions. According to the author, three types of distortions were made during the preparation of the book: decoding errors, literary editing and censorship interventions. While preparing the academic edition of the memories, the author conducted a complete comparison of Makhrov's manuscript, stored in the Bakhmetevsky Archive of Columbia University in New York, with the book of 1994, revealing all the changes to the original text.</jats:p>
