Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> <p>Objectives This study investigated the immediate effects of a newly formed Mind-Body Relaxation and Rejuvenation Technique (MBRRT), primarily using electroencephalogram (EEG) signals combined with physiological responses and self-reported perceived experiences related to the technique. Materials and Methods Neurophysiological and subjective data are collected from 24 healthy participants. EEG signals are recorded before (5 min), during (10 min), and after (5 min) the intervention using an 8-channel multimodal bio-signal acquisition system with a sampling frequency of 100 Hz. Following preprocessing, five EEG frequency bands: delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma are extracted using empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and the Hilbert transform. Band power analysis was performed to evaluate changes in EEG activity across the three recording stages. Heart rate, blood pressure, and self-reported experiences are assessed before and after the intervention. Descriptive statistics were calculated, and inferential analyses were conducted using a paired-sample t-test and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results A progressive increase in the mean power of mainly theta, alpha, and beta EEG frequency bands across brain regions was observed during the MBRRT performance. Significant changes in EEG power from pre-baseline to during and post-MBRRT suggested enhanced relaxation, calmness, improved attention regulation, and cognitive processing. A significant decrease in post-procedure systolic blood pressure and heart rate was observed. Concurrently, a significant enhancement in the perceived experience of relaxation-rejuvenation was also evident. Conclusions A single 10‑minute MBRRT session produced measurable changes in neurophysiology and subjective feelings of relaxation and rejuvenation. These findings support the potential of MBRRT as an easy, time-efficient self-regulation technique. Functional connectivity analyses and prospective observations can be studied further. Involving larger and more diverse populations may be used to evaluate its effectiveness and broader applicability.</p>
