Abstract

<title>Abstract</title> <p> Failure of flange gasket joints in piping systems frequently leads to accidents such as leakage and even explosion. In this paper, the contact stress of slave sealing surface of the new-type wedge ring gasket was calculated theoretically. The influence of master-slave surface cone angle ( θm/θf ), slave sealing surface height ( hf ), small-end thickness ( T ) and small-end inner diameter ( d1 ) of the new-type ring gasket on the contact stress of the slave sealing surface were analyzed by FEM. The hf had the greatest influence on the contact pressure of the slave sealing surface, followed by the θ m /θ f , T and d1 . By comparing the sealing performance of the new-type wedge ring gasket and traditional octagonal gasket, it was found that the sealing effect of the flange sealing joint of the new-type wedge ring gasket was promoted, while the sealing performance of the flange sealing joint of the octagonal gasket was decreased under the action of medium pressure. </p>
