Abstract

Abstract

Stakeholder collaboration, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and stakeholder pressure significantly contribute to green innovation; however, their mutual influence on the promotion green innovation in the construction industry remains unknown. Based on stakeholder theory, the natural resource-based view, and institutional theories, this study examines the mediating role of CSR and the moderating role of stakeholder pressure to uncover the effect of stakeholder collaboration on green innovation and propose an integrated framework. Using a self-administered questionnaire, data from 406 Chinese construction companies. An analysis of the data using multiple linear regression revealed that (1) stakeholder collaboration positively affects green innovation, (2) CSR mediates the association between stakeholder collaboration and green innovation, and (3) stakeholder pressure moderates the association between CSR and green innovation. The value of stakeholder collaboration lies primarily in building an organization’s capacity for adaptive learning and agile decision-making. This study elucidates how stakeholder collaboration enhances green innovation in organizations under stressful conditions, thereby contributing to the literature on construction project management and providing practitioners with an actionable framework for building corporate social responsibility in project management through stakeholder collaboration.
