Materials and methods. The paper uses the method of a systematic review of the works of domestic and foreign authors previously published on the stated topic, which are in the public domain. Results. It is proposed to supplement the definition of «iatrogeny» with the phrase «iatrogenic condition» based on the factors of negative consequences in the professional activity of a physician. Conclusion. It is necessary to take into account the concomitant causes and circumstances that led to the occurrence of iatrogenic conditions in personnel and iatrogenism in general. In addition to the legal aspect, targeted actions that fall into the category of violations of moral and ethical standards and are aimed at intentionally harming the patient deserve special attention.
