Abstract
<jats:p>European post-industrial regions face structural challenges in transitioning to knowledge-driven economies. Territorial Servitization (TS) — the integration of Knowledge-Intensive Business Services (KIBS) into industrial ecosystems — offers a promising pathway for territorial renewal. This report analyzes TS through two emblematic cases: the Basque Country and the Ruhr Valley. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study compares their TS strategies and context-specific implementations. The Basque Country adopts a structured, policy-driven model, whereas the Ruhr Valley’s transition is characterized by more decentralized governance and collaboration, fostering the emergence of KIBS niches. Both regions, however, share common challenges: weak collaboration between KIBS and industry, difficulties in talent retention, network failures, and a limited culture of innovation. Despite these obstacles, each case offers valuable policy insights. The project formulates eight recommendations, ranging from improving governance and strengthening intermediaries to fostering innovation and talent development. These findings provide actionable guidance for European policymakers aiming to integrate KIBS into broader strategies for industrial renewal and regional competitiveness.</jats:p>
