Abstract
<jats:p>The research was conducted in the valleys of the Biała Nida and Czarna Nida rivers, located in the SW part of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within the southern sector of the Holy Cross Mts. The rivers have a lowland character, small slope and wide floodplains with numerous oxbow lakes and palaeochannels. The methodology included desk based and field analyses. On the basis of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM), topographic maps and orthophotomaps, palaeochannels were identified, and then geomorphological mapping as well as hand drilling and sampling were carried out. The collected samples were subjected to grain size analysis and loss on ignition (LOI) determinations, while the age of meander cut off was determined using radiocarbon dating of organic material.</jats:p>
