The impact of NATO enlargement during the Cold War on the development of the Euro-Atlantic project

<jats:p>The article examines the process of NATO enlargement during the Cold War in thecontext of ongoing geopolitical processes. An assessment of the domestic political and socio-economic consequences of Greece, Turkey, Germany and Spain’s integration into the North Atlantic Alliance is given.The authorconcludesthat duringNATO enlargement inthe ColdWartime,certain approaches to working with potentialcandidates for membership were developed, which were used then in the post-bipolar period.</jats:p>
